The Shadows - short bio
Hank
Marvin and Bruce Welch reformed in early 70's together with
the Australian John Farrar, and made the vocal group Marvin-Welch-Farrar.
MWF
made some great vocals, but the audience didn't want this. They
wanted to hear Apache and FBI. Then The Shadows reformed again,
with Bruce, Hank, Brian Bennett and John Farrar. They got Alan
Tarney on bass guitar. In 1975 they played in the Eurovision
song contest, and became second.

John
Farrar left The Shadows, and Hank, Bruce and Brian took over
The Shadows (as a trio), and they released 20 Golden Greats
in 1977, which became no 1. The Shadows was on the road again,
and got a keyboardist added to the line up, first Francis Monkman
and then Cliff Hall, which is still in the group. Alan Jones
became bass player until his car accident, and in 1986 Mark
Griffiths took over his place.
The
Shadows made a lot of albums in the 80's but mostly cover tunes.
They sold very well. In 1990 they split up, but are now again
ready for The Final Tour.
